Cibo

CIBO (pronounced chee-bo Italian for โ€œfoodโ€) is a neighborhood Italian restaurant at SE 35th and Division in Portland, Oregon. We serve authentic Roman-style wood-fired pizza, handmade fresh pastas, grilled meats, and fresh seafood in a warm, welcoming space built around an open kitchen and an imported Ligurian pizza oven, the first of its kind in the United States.

Our menu changes with the seasons, built around the best local and imported ingredients we can find. The wood-fired oven at the heart of our kitchen turns out hand-pulled pizzas on thin, blistered crusts, try the fig and prosciutto, the housemade soppressata with Calabrian chilies and honey, or a classic Margherita with fresh basil and imported Italian tomatoes. Our fresh pastas are made daily: rich Pappardelle alla Bolognese, delicate wild mushroom ravioli in porcini cream, and fresh tortelli stuffed with roasted squash and sage brown butter. When it comes to meat, we keep it serious, a Black Angus flat iron steak finished with a four-day veal glaze, a peppercorn-crusted pork tenderloin, and a marinated hanger steak served the way it was meant to be, sliced medium rare with Tuscan fries. From the sea, our Cioppino brings together salmon, flounder, shrimp, octopus, mussels, and clams in a rich tomato fish broth, guests tell us itโ€™s the best theyโ€™ve had anywhere. Fresh Puget Sound mussels sauteed with saffron, thyme, cream, and butter round out a seafood menu that changes with whatโ€™s fresh. Our bread is baked fresh in-house every single day, and we finish every meal with housemade desserts from Torta di Ricotta with amarena cherries and dark chocolate ganache to classic tiramisu. Round it all out with cocktails crafted to order at our full bar, with 25 wines by the glass from our Oregon and Italian wine list.

Cibo was designed from the ground up by owner Marco Frattaroli, a Rome-born chef who has been cooking authentic Italian food in Portland since the 1980s. The 3,000-square-foot space features a wraparound bar built from a single Oregon White Oak tree, bar stools handcrafted from reclaimed wine barrels, red leather booths, giant picture windows, and black-and-white photographs of Italy that Marco shot himself. Itโ€™s cozy, lively, and unmistakably Portland , the kind of place where you come for one glass of wine and end up staying for the whole evening.

Weโ€™re open every night for dinner, untill 10pm Walk-ins are always welcome , we hold tables every night for guests who show up without a reservation. For groups of 8 to 40, we offer a family-style multi-course dining experience that brings the Italian tradition of communal eating to Southeast Portland.

Cibo has been a neighborhood gem on SE Division since 2012, earning a 4.6-star rating on Google from over 1,100 guests. Whether itโ€™s a date night, a birthday dinner, a casual weeknight meal, or a special occasion, weโ€™d love to have you at our table.
