2012 I Custodi “Aetnus” Etna Rosso

Here is one for a wine geek: funky, structured wine from the volcanic hillsides surrounding Mt. Etna on the Eastern shores of Sicily! Interested yet? Good!

Nerello mascalese is the red grape most commonly found here, and it lends some serious tannin and acid to the local wines. Expect a bit of smoky, briny, and herbal notes that are well integrated with fresh ripe fruit characteristics, with a long lingering finish. This is a serious food wine, and pizza is a great pairing – try it with our Southern Italian or House Pepperoni for some parallel flavors!
